Experienced Board Member

  • Served on the District 202 Board since 2009
  • Past Board President—worked with District 65 to pass first joint board goal on literacy
  • Current Member and Vice-Chair of ED-RED, advocacy organization representing over 70 suburban Chicagoland districts by monitoring and actively influencing education policy in Illinois
  • Current or past Member of virtually every Board committee, including: Finance, Policy, *Audit, *City-School, Community Legislative Group, ED-RED, *Oakton Community College Governing Board, Evanston Cradle to Career, *PTSA, *School Improvement Team, *Substance Abuse Team. (*past member)

Attorney

  • Former partner with large Chicago firm practicing environmental litigation and pro bono criminal defense law, including a successful appeal before the Illinois Supreme Court in a capital case

Volunteer

  • Community: Interfaith Housing Association of the Northern Suburbs (now known as Open Communities) Board member and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of IL Board member and Government Relations Chair coordinating legislative efforts and grassroots advocacy
  • School: Community Legislative Group, Wellness Council (D65); Calendar Committee, Haven PTA Environment Committee Chair and Wellness Team; Lincolnwood School tutor, co-founder knitting club, and room parent

Gretchen Livingston

is the parent of two ETHS graduates—one attends Carleton College and the other is in graduate school at Johns Hopkins. She is an attorney and has been an active volunteer in both school districts and the community. She and her husband, David, have lived in Evanston for 27 years.
